When the casino first
opened, I thought it was the greatest thing going. It was easy
to get to, it was safe, and I could play the slot machines,
watch the crowds, and go out to eat all in one place. Plus,
my senior citizen's group had bus tours going all the time.
I figured, how bad could gambling be if they're scheduling all
these trips, right?
Well, at first it was just a few dollars here and there. But pretty soon I noticed I was cutting back on things to save money for the slots. Then, when I lost, I'd gamble even more trying to break even. I used to be able to buy things for my granddaughter, and even for myself once in a while, but pretty soon I couldn't. Now, I don't gamble anymore. Instead of getting on that tour bus, I go for other activities my senior group offers. I've managed to pay back that loan, and my granddaughter and I are spending more time together than ever. |
